Foreverman
I will be the burning sun
the warm light on your face
and in the morning I will shine
and scare away the worst of dreams
I will be the solid rock
the one that holds your secrets
the mountain you can call your home
immovable range of granite
I will be the magnet earth
the ground that holds so true
I will be the sturdy globe
ever spinning in the ceaseless void
- C. Gunter
Waterfall
between uneven ground
where the creek bed cut
a path to where the water falls
the place in which we'd wash our past
some slippery rocks
and some half mast trees
the caves and caverns echoed deep
we circled our way downward
we were path finders to the great unknown
we were the seekers of truth
the journey where I found you there
the will of water inside you
following and exploring the rocky bed
they could not hold you back at all
I tasted you on my lips
as you fell all around me
I found life in the way you came together
you were flowing all inside my body
- C. Gunter
Wide Water
I
I found you
creek bound, beaming
water logged and sand-filled
wet shins
rough water
the flow and pull of you
over me
down and inside
we were wanderering
wanderers willing
wet skies and overcast
kissed you in the trembling air
II
I found you
beneath river rocks
the earth and stone and you
down and inside
arms like tree roots
hold me up high
we went through his home
but we didn't take much
just joy from being close
skipping logs and kids toys
treasure washed up with the tide
we could only take what we could carry
- C. Gunter
The River
manic thrashing river
wide mouth deep and muddied
carving rock and wet earth
unbound act of measure
fed by rain and anger
the weight of all she's ever seen
buried all inside her grasp
sediment memories
crashing cause within her
the directions of her body
buried in the wet sand
all the pain she's given
turmoil in her ancient flow
the essence of her nature
they could not calm the tempest
for her valleys run the deepest
fierce and gorgeous river
all I ever needed
beautiful movements pull me
to follow her path forever
to admire her for all she is
the wild and turning river
- C. Gunter
Hospital Town
we were the blood at night
to older parts of the city veins
from the vacant house
to his hospital bed
behind the length of shops
where the camera saw
this towns electric heart
where our feet were drown
and through the window
we could see the light
and on the sidewalk
where we sat at night
from the cemetary grave
in the tiny park
where you saw the ghost
who was falling hard
for you
and into you
and through you
- C. Gunter
Three Islands
through the creek and those weeds
we carried him to his new home
to rule over the land
marked by tower of stone
"King Timothy, his majesty" they cried
what good trinkets did we find?
on three islands
waist deep in water and thorns
carried that weight back with us
into the new world
into the warm night
Into your arms
King Timothy, his majesty
King of three islands
- C. Gunter
Reaction
In the heart of a star we were forged
all from the same things
separate but one
two halves of the same whole
magneticly drawn
cursed with two bodies
a perfect fit for my empty spaces
we'll be there together
together again
spun in white light
back to the star from where we came
to join in fusion
there's more to us than what you see
- C. Gunter
