Wide Water

Wide Water

I

I found you
creek bound, beaming
water logged and sand-filled

wet shins
rough water
the flow and pull of you

over me
down and inside
we were wanderering

wanderers willing
wet skies and overcast
kissed you in the trembling air

II

I found you
beneath river rocks
the earth and stone and you

down and inside
arms like tree roots
hold me up high

we went through his home
but we didn't take much
just joy from being close

skipping logs and kids toys
treasure washed up with the tide
we could only take what we could carry
