The River

The River

manic thrashing river
wide mouth deep and muddied
carving rock and wet earth
unbound act of measure

fed by rain and anger
the weight of all she's ever seen
buried all inside her grasp
sediment memories

crashing cause within her
the directions of her body
buried in the wet sand
all the pain she's given

turmoil in her ancient flow
the essence of her nature
they could not calm the tempest
for her valleys run the deepest

fierce and gorgeous river
all I ever needed
beautiful movements pull me
to follow her path forever

to admire her for all she is
the wild and turning river
